SOLAR REPAIR

This company wanted some promotional videos for both internal and external use. After some conversation and discussion, we concluded that 3 videos would work best for them: a highlight video, a client testimonial, and an informational video.

So, we got to work.

The Highlight Video

The first video was a highlight video documenting the installation process. This footage had to be recorded and captured in the morning, as that is when they installed the panels. Our crew had a bright and early start to the day climbing onto the roof of houses. It was a workout but well worth it.

A specific challenge for this video was getting all the shots without bothering the production. We could not afford any re-dos because the process was happening live and it would require too much effort and energy to duplicate everything from the start. We had to anticipate the workers’ next moves by communicating with them so that both sides knew what was happening at all times.

The footage took around 2 consecutive full-length days to capture, on top of editing and finalizing the product.

The Informational Video

The second video was a highlight video identifying and explaining the upgrades to the system. One particular challenge we faced while filming the footage for this video was the lighting. As we were filming during sunrise, the light was very harsh. We were able to navigate this issue by using an 8x8 strip SCRIM in order to adjust for proper lighting.

The Client Testimonial

The last video was a client testimonial. For this video, we had to work with the client’s tight schedule and were given only a 30-45-minute time slot to conduct the interview. Our producer had to ensure that the questions he asked were direct, concise, and effective. The crew worked with speed and accuracy, adjusting the angles so the background would be aesthetically pleasing on camera.

Finishing Thoughts

We had a crew of 3 for this project: one producer/editor, and two videographers. Short-term projects like these can be more difficult in a way, as we have a more restricted timeline and stricter deadlines to meet. However, we are super proud that the crew was able to pull off and deliver on time despite all the obstacles and hurdles.
